What is Local SEO?

Local SEO is a method of promoting your products and services to local customers at the exact time they’re looking for them. It uses local keyword modifiers, business directory networks and local authoritative links to build credibility in a chosen location for specific keywords.

Why are Local SEO Services important for your business?

As a small business, the chances are that you’re looking to attract local prospective customers in the area you trade. Local SEO offers a targeted approach, positioning your business in front of local people that are interested in what you do, when they’re looking to buy. These are customers that may otherwise not know you exist, so think of the potential new business opportunities!

Local SEO Tips for Small Businesses

  1. Website Localisation – Reference your city, country or even region name naturally throughout your site. If your company has several locations, you may wish to do this for each of your locations. Make these pages specific to these areas and think about why users from that area would want to engage with your business.
  2. Citation Building – Ensure you feature on citation sites and local business directories. It’ll help customers to find your business, feature your company name and contact details as well as giving you a little search engine ranking “boost”.
  3. Claim your Google My Business listing – Ever heard the phrase “you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours”, Google plays nicely with those that use multiple Google products/tools, the more data Google has about you and your company, the better they treat you in search. As such, since most users visit Google to find businesses, and Map locations show above organic search results, claiming your business listing is vitally important!
  4. Think about what people search for and what they may as AI bots – If you understand what your ideal customers are likely to search for, and can tailor your content to suit that, wouldn’t that make them more likely to buy from you? Of course it would! So if you’re a local business, think about searches like “near me” “in area” “local” and see if you can use them to drum up new business.
